Return Policy Clear, Fair & Practical.
This Return Policy explains when products purchased from Parakeet Shop may be eligible for return, replacement or another appropriate resolution, particularly where an item is damaged, defective, incorrect, tampered with or materially different from what was ordered.
When should you contact us?
You received a damaged or leaking package.
A different product was delivered.
Packaging appears tampered with at delivery.
The product is defective, spurious or materially not as advertised.
About This Return Policy
This Return Policy applies to eligible products purchased through Parakeet Shop, operated by PARAKEET ENGINEERING PRIVATE LIMITED.
Because our store may sell consumable products including spice powders, spice drops, essential oils, tea, coffee, dal, pulses and other food or pantry items, return eligibility may depend upon the nature of the product, condition of the package and reason for the request.
This Policy should be read together with our Refund & Cancellation Policy, Shipping Policy and Terms and Conditions.
Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Return Policy is intended to remove or restrict any mandatory right available to a consumer under applicable Indian law.
Where goods are defective, deficient, spurious, not of the characteristics or features advertised or agreed, incorrectly supplied or otherwise covered by applicable consumer protection law, an appropriate remedy will be provided in accordance with law.
Return restrictions relating to normal change-of-mind requests do not eliminate statutory remedies for defective, damaged, incorrect, spurious or misrepresented products.
When a Product May Be Eligible
A product may be considered for return, replacement, refund or another appropriate resolution where one or more of the following circumstances apply.
The item was physically damaged before or during delivery.
The product delivered is materially different from the product ordered.
The product contains a material defect affecting its normal intended use.
The package or safety seal appears materially tampered with when received.
A bottle, container or package arrives leaking or broken.
The quantity materially differs from what was ordered or labelled.
An item is delivered after its expiry date or is otherwise legally unsuitable for sale.
The goods are materially not of the characteristics or features advertised or agreed.
Notify Us Promptly
For damaged, leaking, tampered, incorrect or visibly defective deliveries, customers should contact us as soon as reasonably possible after receiving the package.
We recommend reporting visible delivery issues within 48 hours of delivery so that the condition of the parcel can be assessed while courier and packaging information remains readily verifiable.
A delayed report will not automatically remove a statutory consumer right where such right continues to apply under law.
Food, Tea, Coffee, Dal & Spices
Food and other consumable products require special handling because product safety, hygiene, storage and contamination risks may arise after delivery.
Therefore, a correctly supplied, undamaged and compliant food product generally cannot be returned merely because the customer changed their mind, no longer wants the product or does not personally prefer its taste, aroma or texture.
Defective, damaged, expired, incorrect, spurious, tampered or materially misrepresented food products may remain eligible for an appropriate remedy.
A correctly delivered, safe and compliant consumable is generally not returnable simply because it is no longer wanted.
Spice Drops & Essential Oils
Bottled spice drops, extracts and essential oil products may be eligible for review where the bottle is broken, leaking, incorrectly supplied, defective or materially different from its advertised description.
For hygiene, contamination and product integrity reasons, an opened or used bottle ordinarily cannot be returned solely because of change of mind.
Customers should use concentrated products only in accordance with their actual packaging, intended use and directions.
Generally Non-Returnable Cases
Subject always to mandatory statutory consumer rights, we may ordinarily decline a change-of-mind return in the following cases.
- Food or consumable items that were correctly supplied and are not defective.
- Products that have been opened, consumed or substantially used.
- Products whose original seal has been removed after delivery, unless necessary to discover a defect that could not reasonably have been identified otherwise.
- Products damaged after delivery because of improper storage, handling or misuse.
- Products exposed to moisture, contamination, excessive heat or unsuitable storage after delivery.
- Returns requested merely because taste, aroma, colour or personal preference did not meet subjective expectations, where the product itself is compliant.
- Products purchased by mistake where the correct item was supplied and statutory return rights do not otherwise apply.
- Products for which material components or packaging are missing because of customer handling.
These exclusions do not apply to the extent that applicable law requires us to provide a remedy for defective, deficient, spurious, incorrect, unsafe or misrepresented goods.
Damaged or Tampered Parcel
If the outer package is visibly damaged, opened, leaking or materially tampered with at the time of delivery, please inspect it carefully wherever reasonably possible.
If you accept such a parcel and later discover damage, retain the product, external packaging, shipping label and internal packaging until your request has been reviewed.
Photos or video recorded at the time of opening may assist us in resolving courier-related or packaging claims.
Wrong Product Delivered
If you receive a materially different product from the item listed in your confirmed order, please contact our support team.
Where the claim is verified, we may arrange replacement, collection, refund or another appropriate remedy depending upon availability, circumstances and applicable law.
Please avoid opening or using an incorrectly delivered consumable product unless opening was reasonably necessary to identify the issue.
Expired or Shelf-Life Issues
Products should be used in accordance with the expiry date, best-before date, storage instructions and other information appearing on the actual product packaging.
If you believe an item was already expired, unsafe or otherwise legally unsuitable for sale when delivered, please contact us with clear photographs of:
- The complete product.
- Expiry or best-before information.
- Batch or lot number where available.
- Product label.
- Order details.
Information We May Request
To investigate a return or replacement request efficiently, we may request reasonable information relevant to the claim.
An opening video may help establish the condition in which an order was received, but absence of a video will not by itself eliminate a statutory right where the complaint can reasonably be established through other evidence.
Return Request Process
Send your request to arup@parakeetshop.in with your order information and issue.
Provide relevant photographs or other reasonable information required to verify the issue.
Our team will review the request against the order details, evidence and applicable policy.
If approved, we will communicate the applicable replacement, return, refund or other resolution.
Do Not Send Products Without Approval
Where physical return of a product is required, please wait until our support team provides return instructions.
Products sent independently to our registered office or another address without return authorisation may not be identifiable against the relevant order.
Where collection is required, we may arrange reverse pickup where available or provide other reasonable instructions.
Keep the Product & Packaging
Until your claim is resolved, please retain the relevant product and, where reasonably available:
- Original product container.
- Outer courier packaging.
- Product labels and seals.
- Invoice or order information.
- Batch and expiry information.
- Accessories supplied with the product.
Do not consume or continue using a product if you reasonably believe it may be unsafe, contaminated, tampered with or defective.
Verification & Inspection
A return request may be reviewed using order records, customer-provided evidence, courier information, product photographs, packaging information or physical inspection.
In appropriate cases, we may consult a supplier, manufacturer, courier or other relevant service provider while investigating the issue.
Verification procedures will not be used to unreasonably deny a legitimate statutory consumer remedy.
Available Resolutions
Depending upon the circumstances, product availability and applicable law, an approved claim may be resolved through one or more of the following methods.
A replacement of the same product may be supplied where available.
An eligible refund may be processed where replacement is unavailable or refund is the appropriate remedy.
Where an incorrect product was supplied, the correct product may be dispatched.
Another remedy may be provided where required or appropriate under applicable consumer law.
Replacement Availability
A replacement is subject to availability of the relevant product.
If the same item is unavailable, we may offer an eligible refund or another resolution in accordance with applicable law and our policies.
A replacement order may have a separate dispatch and delivery timeline depending upon stock and courier serviceability.
Return Shipping Costs
Where a verified return arises because we supplied an incorrect, damaged, defective or otherwise legally non-compliant product, applicable return-shipping arrangements will be handled in accordance with law and the circumstances of the case.
Where a voluntary return is exceptionally approved for a reason unrelated to any defect or fulfilment error, applicable shipping costs may be communicated before the return is accepted.
No return-shipping charge will be imposed in a manner inconsistent with mandatory consumer rights.
Refund After an Approved Return
Where an approved return qualifies for a refund, the refund will ordinarily be initiated after the relevant verification or return process is completed.
Refunds may be issued to the original payment method or another lawful method where required or appropriate.
After a refund is initiated, the time required for the amount to appear may depend upon the bank, card network, UPI provider, wallet or payment gateway.
Read Refund & Cancellation Policy →Late Delivery
Delivery estimates may be affected by logistics operations, location, public holidays, weather, government restrictions and other circumstances.
Where goods are delivered late from a stated delivery schedule and applicable consumer law provides a right of return or refund, we will handle the matter in accordance with that law, including any applicable force-majeure exception.
Read Shipping Policy →Damage Caused After Delivery
A product may not qualify for return where the problem was caused after delivery by circumstances such as:
- Improper storage.
- Mishandling.
- Customer-caused breakage.
- Contamination after opening.
- Exposure to inappropriate temperature or humidity.
- Use inconsistent with product instructions.
This clause does not apply where the relevant problem existed at the time of delivery or was caused by a defect for which statutory liability applies.
Abusive or Fraudulent Claims
We may reasonably investigate return requests where evidence suggests fraud, repeated abuse, product substitution, manipulated evidence or other improper conduct.
Fraudulent claims may be rejected and, where appropriate, referred to payment providers or lawful authorities.
Legitimate consumer complaints will not be treated as abuse merely because a customer exercises rights available under law.
Purchases Made Through Our Website
This Return Policy applies to products purchased directly through Parakeet Shop.
We may need the order number or other information reasonably necessary to confirm that the product was purchased through our store.
Products purchased from an unrelated third-party seller should ordinarily be returned through the retailer or platform from which they were purchased.
Consumer Protection
This Policy is intended to operate consistently with applicable Indian consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and applicable Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules.
Where there is a conflict between a voluntary restriction in this Policy and a mandatory statutory consumer right, the mandatory legal right will prevail.
Changes to This Return Policy
We may update this Return Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our product range, fulfilment processes, customer-service procedures or applicable law.
Updated versions may be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
Changes will operate subject to applicable law and rights arising from transactions already completed.
